The Kym Byrd Interview: Overwhelmingly Interesting For You!
The baseball marriage. Man, that's an interesting subject. Boston Red Sox pitcher Paul Byrd's better half, Kym, was kind enough to take some time out of her busy schedule to talk to me about not just the generic baseball marriage, but some revealing details about her own. You're going to hear a number of interesting perspectives about what it's like to be the wife of a guy who was recently traded. Kym tells us about how she's a life coach and why she became one. And even better, Jimmy Scott (that's me) gives her a test that a research group she's led has given to more than 70 couples in baseball. The test is called the Strong Marriages In Sports Research Project, which is a mouthful and should probably be changed to Why Do So Many Baseball Marriages Suck? You can see it if you click on the words Baseball Marriages.
I think you'll find this to be one of the more interesting interviews on this website. Not to short-change any of the other people I've talked to, but Kym's insights are particularly refreshing. And also novel to many of you who aren't involved in a marriage where one member spends 8 months a year throwing a baseball in a squiggly line down the throats of large men holding big pieces of lumber and hoping to slam that baseball right back at ya.
Visit Kym's website and listen to what she has to say. You'll be a better person when you're done. I know I am.
