The Ron Blomberg Interview You'll Never Forget, Guaranteed, Or Your Money Back!
There's always a "next," be it the next Beatles, the next President of the United States, the next Rocky movie. Then, there's former Yankee Ron Blomberg who was "the next Mickey Mantle." The problem with "nexts" is that they rarely live up to their precedent. But while I never knew Mickey Mantle, I have met Ron Blomberg. And Ron is a class act. He is a straight-shooter who loves to talk baseball. Another one of those guys from the first couple of free agent classes in the mid-1970s, Ron tells us his post-career story, which includes motivational speaking engagements for large companies like State Farm.
We talk about the Ron Blomberg Baseball Camp, the Israeli Baseball League, injuries in baseball, his book "Designated Hebrew" and the late, great Bobby Murcer, who died too young earlier this season.
We do not talk about Ron's being the first designated hitter in baseball history. The reason is two-fold: 1) I forgot, and 2) I thought he had more important things to say about other subjects. If you want to learn more about Ron and being the first DH, buy "Designated Hebrew." If you want to hear an interesting guy talk about baseball, click on the funny thing just below this colon:
