Parte Dos: Los Peliculas Beisbol Favoritos de Jaime Scotto (Jimmy Scott's Favorite Baseball Movies, Parte Dos)

By Jimmy Scott - Posted on 17 September 2008

I don't just like baseball movies.  But this site isn't about my love for Goonies II.  It's about baseball and the lives of baseball players and the freakshows that surround us/them.  I mentioned how much I liked Bull Durham yesterday.  Another favorite baseball movie I love (redundant, since "favorite" modifies "love" - baseball historians/college English professors please correct me if I was wrong there) is The Bad News Bears - the original 1976 version starring Walter Matthau.

But first, did you know, or remember, that the Bad News Bears was a TV show?  I did not.  Here's the intro.  Simply awful:

Note it looks like Englebert is now "Engleberg."  And did you see one of the Coreys was in the cast?  I always did like Jack Warden, who appeared to play the part of Buttermaker.  I just now saw the Mr. Warden died two years ago.  I somehow like him more now.

Anypoop, I looked for a clip from the original movie.  None available reached the standards I have set for this site, which are quite low as you have seen by now.  So here's a clip from the remake, released in 2005.  Try to enjoy:
