Jimmy Scott's High & Tight: The Brian Boehringer Interview

By Jimmy Scott - Posted on 24 November 2008

Brian Boehringer earned a World Series ring out of the bullpen with the 1996 New York Yankees.  He was part of the 1998 National League champion San Diego Padres, who were swept by the Yankees in 4 games during that World Series.  He's made millions of dollars.  He's straddled a Major League mound.  You probably envy him, just a bit.  Except for one thing...

Brian loved his time in baseball.  Here, in this exclusive Jimmy Scott's High & Tight interview, Brian Boehringer talks about the game, about playing, about being a part of something special.  But he also talks about the hard parts.  The travel.  The pain.  And the realization that, if you are not a top star in Major League Baseball, your phone calls don't get returned as quickly as others.

You'll hear in our interview that Brian loved playing baseball.  He's even played in the Independent Leagues, just because he can't get enough of the competition.  But there's one thing - just one thing - that he's bitter about: His relationship with Bob Garber, Brian's former agent at RMG Sports Management.

I've already written about their falling out, which you can read about in previous posts HERE and HERE.  Other websites, from Dugout Central to SportsAgentBlog.com, have picked up on the story as well.  It's interesting.  And just when you think we're done with it, Brian brings it back up again.

Have you ever heard a player speak freely, no-holds-barred about how he worked with his agent?  Have you ever heard a player talk about how he went about firing his agent?  You probably haven't.  But now you can.  Here's the full, unedited interview with Brian Boehringer, on Jimmy Scott's High & Tight, sponsored by iFungo.  Let me know what you think.
