Jimmy Scott's High & Tight: The Chad Durbin Interview

By Jimmy Scott - Posted on 01 December 2008

Chad Durbin, our Monday Morning Interview on Jimmy Scott's High & Tight, is a human being with a very strong right arm and an even stronger mental grasp on this thing we call "Life."  Chad, who signed a one-year deal last off season with the Philadelphia Phillies, is very happy for his deal, since he had a great year as a pitcher and his team had an even better one, winning the 2008 World Series in 5 games.  Click on his name at the beginning of this paragraph to see his stats.

One of the more interesting aspects of Chad is not how well he can pitch, or how he's adjusted from being a starting pitcher to a reliever, or how he prepares for the long "marathon not a sprint" baseball season, or how to properly throw your body onto a pile of other bodies after a pennant or World Series victory, or even how he deals with his team's rivalry with the New York Mets.  All that stuff's interesting, and we take ample time to discuss everything in our interview.  Just listen.

But even more interesting is how Chad is preparing for the next step in his career, being the owner of a business.  In Chad's case, that business is Showcase UWhat is it?  "Showcase U gives high school student athletes a way to showcase themselves so that they can increase their opportunity to be recruited by college coaches and pro scouts."  That's how co-founders Chad and Jake Chapman (along with CEO Joel Welsh)  describe their company.  Basically, if you're in high school in the Middle of Nowhere, USA and want to be seen by college and pro scouts, Showcase U can provide that window into your talent.   Plus, Chad blogs, along with others in his company, about playing baseball and what it takes, and feels like, to win.  Even if you're not a student athlete or adult coach, it's worth to go back to his site to read into Chad's mind.

My suggestion is you sit back, listen to Chad, and see what it's like to be a World Champion.  You'll be glad you did.

Special Note: I've revamped how the interviews sound, starting with today's Jimmy Scott's High & Tight Chad Durbin (The Durbinator) interview.  You should notice right away.  If not, please just be impressed. All I care about is your happiness.
