Jimmy Scott's Psychic Connection With Doug Glanville & The New York Times
I swear there's a psychic quality to me. I've written here before about how for many years I could think of a certain Brady Bunch episode and, voila, I'd be flipping around the channels not too much later and see it. Yesterday, I was working on next week's Monday Morning Interview with Dave Page, strength & conditioning coach for the Boston Red Sox, when I thought of the song "Let's Go" by The Cars. I hadn't thought of that song in years and hadn't heard it in more than that. Within 30-minutes - this is all true - I heard the song on the radio.
Yesterday must have been a day of stars and moon alignments for Jimmy Scott (me). I should ask our resident sports astrologist, Andrea Mallis, what this all means. Te psychic-ness (by the way, being a psychic and astrologer are very different things, Andrea will tell you that) I felt yesterday must have transferred over to today. Why? Yesterday's Monday Morning Interview was with Doug Glanville. I sent him an email with the link to our now-public discussion. I communictated with former Phillies utility player Desi Relaford about Doug while Curt Schilling and I traded emails about him. And as I spoke to former Phillies reliever Wayne Gomes, I told him all about Doug's NY Times articles, which Wayne knew about but hadn't read. And, to cap it off, I told someone else about Doug's business, GK Alliance, and what they do. It was a very Doug Glanville day.
Today must be too.
I "fired up" my computer (imagine if we had to start our computer by literally putting logs around it and lighting a match; I guess that might be better than a hand crank) about 15-minutes ago, click on Internet Explorer (no, I'm not a Mac guy, shoot me) and my home page - the New York Times - opens. And what do I see? There, in the right-hand column of the "paper," is an Opinion icon. Under it, Heading Home: A Gift From Puerto Rico.
By Doug Glanville.
I sense my case of Psychic Glanville abilities are complete. It's happened before when I've written aboutDoug Brocail and Tony Clark. I wonder who's next. Mike Torrez? Jason Grille? Scott Brosius? Fred Claire?
Ahh, if only I had interviewed Debbie Clemens. (Don't tell Vanessa I said that, and I guess Roger too.)
You'll have to excuse me now. I need to read my latest NY Times article by Doug Glanville.
