Jimmy Scott's High & Tight: The Rebecca Scritchfield, Sports Nutritionist Interview

By Jimmy Scott - Posted on 09 March 2009

Everbody wants a leg up.  How can I be better?  How can I be stronger?  How can I be faster?  Short of becoming a Six Million Dollar Man (with inflation that's more than $250 million over ten years), there are two ways to go.  The first is the illegal way.  You can find a nice, untrustworthy connection and buy your performance enhancers from him.  Now, it must be a him.  We haven't heard of any female distributors of the stuff, so ladies, here's an untapped market for you if you're home and bored and looking to one day get subpeoned for your role in the next major baseball scandal.  Your pre-requisite is you need to be a slimebucket.  You need to keep records of who you deal with so when the Feds break into your apartment (you've already lost your family, so you're alone - sorry) they can find the smoking gun that connects you to Sports Stars A, B, C and, a couple years later, D.  You need to be able to eventually write a tell-all book, which is hard because there isn't much to tell, other than you're not too bright, just a shade brighter than the athletes you distributed your illegal substances to.  You need to look goofy when led from car to court.  And, to really prove a point, you need to be willing to go to jail to take the fall for one of your best client-athletes who can't believe you're actually doing that.  You need to enjoy working out and have no issue with going in front of Congress on live television and stating your case with your biggest former customer just 20 feet away from you telling them you are a liar.

If you can do all this, more power to ya.

There's another way to get a leg up on the competition, or at least stay on par with them: Proper Nutrition.  And that's where Sports Nutritionist Rebecca Scritchfield comes in.  Her role in life is to get ballplayers healthy the legal, safe way, through eating enough and eating right.  She has a plan for you, and now's your chance to hear it.

Who is Rebecca Scritchfield?  She owns Elite Nutrition DC and is an author, adjunct professor at George Washington University, and graduated with honors and distinction from John Hopkins University, where she got her masters and dual bachelors degrees in nutrition and chemistry.  She is a licensed dietician and speaks at public events all over the country.  She also has the cutest laugh that you'll hear when I add in my amazingly humorous quips about this or that.

She's got a blog too.  You should check it out HERE.

So rather than spend another moment reading, spend a few more moments listening to Rebecca Scritchfield and her sugggestions on how baseball careers can last longer and be better right here at Jimmy Scott's High & Tight.

Did you pay for all those initials after your name?

Oh and I guess the guest was good too? It's funny because when I listened, I went "oh gee, I should have said...." So much to say, so little time. Now I'm off to a 12-mile run! Rebecca
