Chicago released a statement during its 11-1 loss to New York yesterday that pitcher Jimmy Scott’s wife, Vanessa, had given birth to twins, Alyssa and Grace. After the drubbing, manager George Winkles asked, “Can they hit?” Jimmy Scott could not be reached for comment, a rarity for him.
