Your Special Guest On Jimmy Scott's High & Tight: Desi Relaford
(AP) The rumors have become official. Former MLB infielder/outfielder/pitcher (for one game) Desi Relaford has agreed in principal on a bi-weekly contract to write for Jimmy Scott's High & Tight. Full terms were not disclosed. Mr. Relaford, of Jacksonville, Florida, will contribute words, paragraphs and the occasional piece of punctuation every other week beginning Tuesday, April 21. His first published entry, "Why So Soon?", will cover the end of his Major League career, including the day Colorado Rockies manager Clint Hurdle broke the news to him that he was being released.
"Mr. Relaford's candid observations will fit in perfectly at Jimmy Scott's High & Tight," said site creator/founder/co-founder/right-handed future Hall of Fame pitcher Jimmy Scott. "I've been riding him like a cheap circus donkey for months to commit. It was only after I agreed to get off of him that he agreed to add his two cents."
Mr. Relaford was at a chiropractor and unavailable for comment.
Desi Relaford played 11 seasons in the big leagues for 8 teams. His best season was 2001, when he batted .301 and sported an on base percentage of .362 for the New York Mets in 120 games.
Sincerely loved by his former teammates and various media pundits and writers, Mr. Relaford's articles should strike a chord with more than just fans of Jimmy Scott's High & Tight, but all baseball fans with heartbeats.
"We welcome Mr. Relaford with open arms," Scott stated. "I don't really need to hug him though, do I?"
Mr. Relaford was still at his chiropractor and unavailable for comment.
