Your Next Jimmy Scott's HIgh & Tight Monday Morning Interview: Warren Cromartie
That's right. Come Monday morning, you're gonna have a chance to listen to "Cro" talk. Remember Warren Cromartie? He was part of the late-'70s/early-'80s Montreal Expos outfield that also included Andre Dawson and Ellis Valentine. At the time, it was considered one of baseball's best outfield trios. Then Valentine was traded to the Mets (for Jeff Reardon, who helped Les Expos make their only post-season in 1981) and, after the 1983 season, Warren emmigrated (or is it immigrated?) to Japan.
Japan? Isn't that where elephants go to die if they can't hack it in the U.S.?
Warren explains. First, he was a free agent and about ready to sign a two-year deal with San Francisco. Then... Well, let's say opportunity came knocking. For the next seven seasons, Cro listened to the opportunities Japan kept giving before coming back to the States for one last go-around for the 1991 Kansas City Royals.
There's some interesting stuff going on in this interview, including talk of how he wrote his book, "Slugging It Out In Japan." Plus, he's asked a couple of your questions. So you might want to add to your To Do list next week, "Listen to Jimmy Scott's High & Tight Monday Morning Interview with Warren Cromartie." It's something you'll be glad you did.
