Your Next Jimmy Scott's High & Tight Monday Morning Interview: Leury Moreno Escobar

By Jimmy Scott - Posted on 23 October 2009

She's the daughter of a former World Series winner.  Her mother has been in a solid marriage for more than 30 years.  She grew up around Willie Stargell, Phil Garner and the rest of the "We Are Family" Pittsburgh Pirates of the late-1970s/early-1980s.  She graduated from college and met a nice boy and became friends.  Then they got married.  From the surface, it looks like Leury Moreno Escobar did everything right.

Only she married the wrong man.

In your next Jimmy Scott's High & Tight Monday Morning Interview, you'll hear the story of Leury Escobar, daughter of former 12-year MLB veteran Omar Moreno, and her marriage to one of baseball's top prospects (#8 in all of baseball, according to MLB.com), Alcides Escobar.  You'll hear how everything was going right until it all went terribly wrong.

There are details and there are accusations.  Like with any breakup, things can get nasty.  The Escobar breakup has become particularly nasty because of one important twist: Gabriela.  Gabriela Escobar is the daughter of Leury and Alcides.  Having a daughter has changed each parent, although each has changed in different ways.  On Monday, you'll find out how.

If you want background, read Leury's own written words.  She communicates her feelings but leaves many questions, including her own credibility.  In the two-part interview at Jimmy Scott's High & Tight, we try to see who's right, who's wrong, and why we should care in the first place.

There is more to come, much more, about Leury and her estranged husband.  On Monday, you'll hear for yourselves and judge for yourselves.
