Jimmy Scott's High & Tight: The Leury Moreno Escobar Interview
What do you do if you fall in love, get pregnant, get married, feel like you're inseparable, and then suddenly it all comes crashing down? This is what Leury Moreno Escobar has gone through in the past year. It's not a made up tale, nor is it a movie of the week. It's a real story featuring a cast of characters that range from one of baseball's top prospects to a Major League General Manager to agents and financial advisors, a private detective, a former World Series champion, and one very innocent baby.
In the Jimmy Scott's High & Tight Interview with Leury Moreno Escobar, you're going to hear, over two parts, the full story. There are allegations. There are denials. There's desperation and criticism. And there's a darker side to baseball that some may not care to know about. We know the game is played on the fields and the fans cheer as hard as they can for the heroes taking those fields, but behind the scenes, in the clubhouses and hotel rooms, in the apartments and off season homes of those players are real lives full of love & hate, honesty & betrayal, and, let's not forget, the ever-present desire to earn and keep the money.
Leury's story isn't new. But it is interesting because she wants you to know. She wants you to know what has happened to her; how her husband left her to give birth to a baby two-months premature without him; how he took money for her c-section and used a portion to pay for his new girlfriend's boob job; how the agents cut her off from the joint credit cards; how the organization around Major League Baseball seemingly abandoned her just like her husband did, all in the name of winning. She's blogged and been slammed for blogging. She's spoken out and been told to watch what she says. But Leury won't stop until she gets what she wants: A financially stable life for her daughter.
She's taking a risk doing this, and she knows that. She could easily be the silent victim. Or she can do what she's doing and seem like a "gold digger," accidentally making her husband appear like the victim. But Leury says she's not going to sit on her hands. She's going to open her mouth and see how far it takes her.
You may not believe this whole story, but the proof is there (she's provided me with emails and plenty of documents supporting her allegations). Requests to speak with Alcides Escobar and get his side, both directly to Escobar via email and through his agent, Paul Kinzer, went unanswered. Kinzer's comment was, "We all need to take care of our children." He also said Alcides had told him he thought things were getting better.
Apparently, they're not.
Listen to Part I and begin to decide for yourself. What's real and what's not? Then use Part II to give you additional backup. The next step is for you to see if you care. Does it really matter what Alcides Escobar has allegedly done? Or does it not, as long as he hits and fields and helps his Milwaukee Brewers win?
That's up for each one of us to decide for ourselves. So... What do you think?
