The Biggest & Most Shocking Events In Baseball History

By Jimmy Scott - Posted on 01 December 2009

Always in search of the quirky or different or forgotten, I'm putting together a list of the most shocking events in baseball history.  If you go HERE, you can see links to what I think are the most shocking Games in baseball history.  What I'm looking for now is bigger than any one game.  These events shaped baseball for years to come or, at the time, were so big they became national, and sometimes international, news.  I'm thinking about the 1919 Black Sox Scandal, the 1994 strike, Jackie Robinson's signing by Branch Rickey, Ray Chapman's beaning.

There are more.  What do you think?  Give me your list and I'll credit you when the final column comes together.  You'll be famous.  Not as famous as me, Jimmy Scott, but still a big shot.

Sound good?
