Sal Bando: The Interview
From becoming captain of the Oakland Athletics at the age of 25, to winning three World Series rings, to being one of the first free agents, to eventually becoming General Manager of the Milwaukee Brewers and then a successful businessman, Sal Bando could be considered a model for how to mold a career during and after a big league career. Now just a fan of the game, Sal is the CEO of the Hartland, Wis.-based Middleton Doll Company.
In this interview, listen to Sal reflect on the Mike Andrews incident in the 1973 World Series, his feelings about former owner Charles O. Finley, and his use of sabermetrics while GM of Milwaukee. Finally, you can get a sense of his relationship with brother Chris, who had a Major League career of his own.
